The atlas index
All 198 countries of the world, by continent, with capitals
Grouped the way the game teaches them: six continents, divided into eighteen regions, each small enough to learn in one sitting. The list holds the 193 member states of the United Nations plus five more places that appear on most world maps: Kosovo, Palestine, Taiwan, Vatican City, and Western Sahara.
About the capitals
The capital shown is the one Mapwake asks for in its Capitals practice. A few countries have more than one capital, or a capital whose status is disputed. Where no single answer holds up, the game asks no capital question, and the line is left blank.

A blank capital line (three of them: Western Sahara, Israel, and Palestine) means Mapwake found no single capital answer that meets its accuracy rule, so it does not ask. The country is still fully playable in every other way.
† Tuvalu is on the list but cannot yet be placed in the game: the open map data Mapwake draws from has no outline for it.
Regions follow the United Nations M49 geoscheme, with two changes so each region stays between four and twenty countries: the Americas are shown as two continents, with Northern America folded into Central America, and the four Pacific sub-regions are shown as one region, Oceania. Country names follow United Nations usage.
